I never really understood why rainbows were such a big deal in fairy tales.
.. That was until yesterday, when I saw one in person for the first time. Quite honestly, it was breathtakingly majestic. So simple, just a reflection of some light in water. Really, something that we see every day — light and water.
I saw it as I was entering the freeway, and as the miles passed, I really did feel like I was getting closer to it. At one point, I felt like if the freeway veered off to the right and continued for about 2 miles I would have been inside the rainbow. I felt myself wanting to chase it — a feeling I’m quite familiar with.
It’s interesting, you know, the idea of chasing rainbows. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t. You can never “catch” a rainbow, nature just won’t allow it; but with something so intriguing, how could you not be tempted? Maybe good old Mother Nature is trying to teach us something: stop chasing. Just admire.
